this temple is located in coral reef on west part of Badung regency,around 25 km from denpasar city. its was built on the edge of hefty reef, protruding into the sea, 80 m above the sea level with tight waves. according to local sources, the uluwatu temple was build by Mpu Kuturan on the eleventh century and then expanded by Danghyang Nirartha on sixteenth century.

the temple is one of Sad Kahyangan Temple which are prominent for Balinese people. this temple was built using localmaterials such as sturdy reef, an astonishing and prominent architecture and sculpture. here can be found the unique parts of temple like no other  like guardian statue for the entrance, consisting of two standing Ganesa Statues which are rarely found in Bali.
